We've been so busy enjoying the summer, that I've neglected our blog. That's not to say that we haven't had some memorable times...
Cle Elum
My Uncle Mark renewed his vows and our entire family traveled to eastern Washington to be part of the ceremony. Susi and Sandy were in town, and everyone spent the day together at a ranch near Mark's house. After being in our hotel room for no more than 20 minutes, poor Landon tripped and fell against the bathtub and got a bloody nose and mouth. It was awful, but he was a trooper and only cried for a minute. Even got a shiner in the process.
Camping
We've been camping twice this summer at Hood Canal. The first trip was a one-nighter near Potlatch and the second was a weekend trip to Tahuya with Kristi, Jeremy and Landon, their 9- month-old son. We had a great time and really nice weather. The highlight of the trip was walking on the beach with Landon and teaching him to throw rocks into the water. The low point was when he lost his precious blanky during our trip to the town festival. I even walked two miles back to town to look everywhere for it. But, we've already received his new version...it's a little too clean and soft though. He needs to make it "his."
Swimming
Landon is taking parent/toddler swimming lessons twice a week in July at the Clover Park High School pool. The first lesson was a bit rough--the water was really cold and he was scared. After about 20 minutes he got more comfortable and played with the kick board, splashed in the water and even tried to blow bubbles.
School
School continues to be a favorite for Landon. He really enjoys his classmates and his teachers and is genuinely excited to go into his classroom every morning. It makes it so much easier to have to leave him. He's finding his own voice and personality and has been reprimanded a few times for hitting, pushing and even biting (once). Hopefully this is just a phase. We don't see this behavior at home, so it's hard to know and judge. Thankfully, his teachers aren't concerned and assure us that he's a loving boy, he just likes his space and his toys. (Sound like his momma.)
Overall, we are enjoying our family time and are looking forward to our first vacation in Kauai this September. I hope to make more time for the blog in the next few weeks, but can't make any promises!
